Letter from the president (Updated 11/27/06)
In the fall of 1902, a group of civic-minded and far-sighted citizens met to subscribe for the stock of the Farmers & Merchants Bank. There were two existing banks in Marinette founded by lumbermen. This bank's founders thought there was a need for a "peoples bank" that would serve the financial needs of hard-working, ordinary citizens.
Little did they realize that the institution they founded would still be serving this community 100 years later. Some of our founders were: J. E. Utke, Charles Reinke, Gus Reinke, Leo Evans, T. C. Miller, John Boren, Charles Feldstein, Samuel Feldstein, F. E. Noyes, and John Dumoulin.
Since 1902, the Farmers & Merchants Bank has been an innovator in the financial services industry. During periods of financial uncertainty, including the Great Depression, we have remained committed to serving our customers in every capacity.
We serve this area as a contributor to many organizations including the United Way, American Legion Baseball, Special Olympics, and the Hi-Q Program. Education has always been a central focus of our philanthropic effort. We provide scholarships to graduating seniors from area high schools to enable them to start their post-secondary education.
* We're grateful to our customer for your loyal support.
* We're excited about the future.
* We're confident that our customer-based approach, internal growth and innovative services will continue to make us a leader in this area and in the financial services industry. We're committed to our customers, our stockholders and to this community.
With your continued support, we'll still be here in another hundred years.

Local Bank Receives Top Award
January, 2008. Farmers and Merchants Bank & Trust Company, Marinette, Wisconsin has earned a 5-star rating... its 52nd in a row, according to BauerFinancial, Inc , Coral Gables, Florida, the nation's leading independent bank rating firm. The 5-star award recognized Farmers and Merchants Bank & Trust Company's continual Superior performance and strength. (The award is based on an analysis of current financial data as supplied by federal regulators, supplemented by historical data.) Farmers and Merchants Bank & Trust Company has also earned the right to be called an Exceptional Performance Bank, a distinction reserved only for those banks that have consistently earned a 5-star rating for at least the past ten years.
"Earning a 5-Star rating is, in itself, an outstanding achievement - evidence of consistently sound management, financial strength and performance," said Karen L. Dorway, president of the research firm. "Earning 5-Stars 50 consecutive times is truly remarkable. Only 14% of the nation's banks have achieved that feat."
A steadfast community bank, Farmers and Merchants Bank & Trust Company has been servicing the needs of its neighbors and friends in Northeastern Wisconsin at the mouth of (the) Menominee River for 102 years. It operates through two conveniently located offices in Marinette and can be found on the internet at www.fmmarinette.com
